Little Fire Ant Electric Ant (Wasmannia auropunctata)
_________

Problem:
In recent times, the proliferation of Little Fire Ants (LFA) is on the rise on the Big Island and, regrettably, is spreading across the neighbor islands. In various parts of East Hawai'i, their invasive presence is so pronounced that they blanket every branch, fern, leaf, rock, and more.

This invasive onslaught wreaks havoc on multiple fronts, adversely affecting native seabird habitats, compromising the health of our rivers and streams, encroaching upon our homes, and virtually erasing the existence of our parks and shorelines.

The repercussions extend beyond the natural environment, as home values plummet significantly due to the untenable living conditions imposed by these tiny invaders. It's a problem of unprecedented scale, with no parallel elsewhere on Earth.

Without BIIG our communities will become increasingly more unlivable.
There is no Big Island without BIIG.

Solution:
BIIG was established with an important objective:
To take decisive control and eliminate the invasive Little Fire Ant (LFA) presence.

Rest assured, BIIG is the only group tackling this issue directly every day on the Big Island.

All we seek is to amplify our message and garner support for our shared goal. Your help in spreading the word is invaluable as we continue this vital mission.
