Can Sinner and Świątek deliver on number 1 seedings?
The eyes of the tennis world are on New York and Flushing Meadows, with the 2024 US Open serving up a festival of elite tennis. Read on and we'll show you how to watch US Open live streams from anywhere
The US Open is notoriously hard to win back-to-back, so perhaps it shouldn't be thought of as a surprise that neither reigning champion — Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff — have managed to make it to the second week of this year's tournament at Flushing Meadows. That leaves both men's and women's draws wide open.
Having said that, it's hard to look past Iga Świątek or Aryna Sabalenka on the female side. The numbers 1and 2 in the world look to be on a collision course towards a grandstand final this Saturday, with both looking utterly dominant on their way to the quarter-finals. Americans Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro will have something to say about that, though, both backed to the hilt by the partisan crowd roaring them on.
Italian Jannik Sinner seems like the man to stop this year, with the number 1 seed looking to finish off his breakout year in style. 2021 winner Daniil Medvedev will be desperate to put an end to his long wait for a second major, while those from the coming generation like Alex de Minaur and Jack Draper will be desperate to take the opportunity — it's the first time in 22 years that any of Novak, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will fail to win a major.
And then there's the duo of American men still fighting hard into the second week in Queens. If Taylor Fritz or Frances Tiafoe can go all the way, they'll be the first home winner of this Slam since Andy Roddick 21 years ago.

There was plenty for the crowds to cheer on Tuesday as three American players all advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open. Taylor Fritz was exceptional as he overcame fourth seed Alexander Zverev and will now play compatriot Frances Tiafoe in the last four after the 20th seed ground down Grigor Dimitrov who retired when trailing 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, 4-1.
Fellow American, Emma Navarro, also stormed into the last four after defeating Paula Badosa in straight sets and will now play second seed Aryna Sabalenka who looking in sensational form as she swept aside Qinwen Zheng, winning 6-1 6-2.
Today sees the remaining quarter-finals take place, starting with 22nd seed Beatriz Haddad Maia taking on Karolina Muchova before 10th seed Alex de Minaur takes on Britain's Jack Draper. The evening session then sees the two top seeds in action as Iga Swiatek takes on home favorite Jessica Pegula and Jannik Sinner faces a tough test against Daniil Medvedev.
2023’s men’s singles champion Novak Djokovic returns to defend his title just weeks after taking home Olympic gold; if he repeats at this year’s US Open, he’ll win a record 25th Grand Slam title. Djokovic is the second seed at the bottom of the men’s singles draw, while the No. 1 seed is Jannick Sinner, who avoided suspension despite a positive drug test.
It’s been 21 years since an American man has won a Grand Slam, but No. 13 seed Ben Shelton could change that. The 21-year-old, who appeared in last year’s semifinal with a 149 mph serve, is seen as the USA’s best bet at snapping the Grand Slam drought.
